Background: Tumors of neuroendocrine origin are a rare, heterogenous group of neoplasms. Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) are categorized by site of origin, differentiation status, and by grade (Ki-67 expression and/or mitotic rate), with significant prognostic variability accordingly.
